I think it is a good Idea to integrate a switch to support Xhtml strict. As Example: If you want to define a Link, no Target-Attribute is allowed in Xhtml strict. So it will be very good that you can't choose "Target" from the Hyperlink-Dialog if you switch the Editor in Xhtml strict Mode. Maybe the best way is, to integrate the switch in a Configuration-File, or htmlarea.js, so the user isn't able to change this.
